The FA is refusing to budge in the face of the Premier League’s attempt to scrap FA Cup replays after 2024 to accommodate the expansion of the Champions League to 10 group games per club, according to reports.
Cup replays have been temporarily canceled for the past two years to help with the backlog of games caused by COVID-19.
But there will be replays for the third and fourth rounds of the season, with seven replays scheduled for midweek.
Replays are a lucrative revenue stream for the FA, as they can provide broadcasters with midweek prime-time action during the coldest part of winter, and in order to forego replays, the FA will send the Premier League
