At noon local time on December 23, the Royal Football Association of Spain drew lots for the 16th final of the 2022-23 King’s Cup of Spain at its headquarters in Las Rosas. Among them, Real Madrid will play the fourth-tier team Caserenio, while Barcelona will face the third-tier team Internazionale. The competition will be held from January 3 to 5.
This season, from the highest level of La Liga to the lowest regional level, the entire Spanish nine-tier football league system has 115 teams participating in the Kings Cup. The first two rounds of the four Super Bowl teams Real Madrid, Barcelona, Real Betis and Valencia will compete in the King’s Cup from this round.
After the first two rounds of competition, Giorona joined Cadiz and Almeria, costing the third La Liga team out of the Kings Cup. The West B team has as many as 10 teams out in the second round, of which Eval is the only West B team eliminated by the fourth-tier team.
According to the rules of grading and drawing lots for the current King’s Cup, the remaining 32 teams in this round will continue as follows: the top four of the Super Bowl in the first round, 13 La Liga teams in the second, five Western League teams in the third, eight Western League teams in the fourth and two Western Conference B teams in the fifth. The draw will be conducted in accordance with the principle of pairing at the lowest and highest levels.
