According to the latest reports, Arsenal are considering boosting their bid for Moises Caicedo as they continue to try to sign a midfielder ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
The Gunners made a second bid worth £70m for Caicedo but it was rejected by Brighton, who continued to insist the Ecuador international was not for sale.
As of Monday morning, Arsenal had not given up on negotiations and a new bid for Caicedo could eclipse the club’s record £72m payment for winger Nicolas Pepe in 2019.
An offer approaching £80m could test Brighton’s resolve after Caicedo said on social media on Friday that he wanted to leave the Amex Stadium for a bigger team.
