According to a supplementary report by The Sun, Schurrle took part in a challenge devised by motivational speaker and extreme athlete Wim Hof.
Schurrle is 32 years old this year, and he announced his retirement in July 2020.
In his career, he participated in 373 club matches and scored 86 goals; he played 57 times on behalf of the German team and scored 22 goals. He was also a member of the 2014 World Cup champion.
